The thin line: gas-phase polymeric coatings.

چکیده
Medical devices often need some form of protection from their immediate environment. However, with small, complex, and sensitive components, the application of a protective coating is not a trivial matter. This article discusses the problem and describes a solution.

Investigation of the electrical properties and corrosion resistance of TiN coating deposited by reactive sputtering on the titanium bipolar plate, used in polymeric fuel cell
The effect of titanium nitride film on the properties of titanium bipolar plates used in polymeric fuel cell was investigated in this research. TiN coatings was deposited on the Ti-grade 1 substrate by using DC-sputtering method. Pure titanium was used as target and coating deposition was done in argon and nitrogen atmosphere. Different TiN thickness was developed by changing sputtering time. T...
متن کاملInvestigation into the Formation and Adhesion of Cyclopentane Hydrates on Mechanically Robust Vapor-Deposited Polymeric Coatings.
Blockage of pipelines by formation and accumulation of clathrate hydrates of natural gases (also called gas hydrates) can compromise project safety and economics in oil and gas operations, particularly at high pressures and low temperatures such as those found in subsea or arctic environments. Cyclopentane (CyC5) hydrate has attracted interest as a model system for studying natural gas hydrates...
متن کاملPolymeric Fluorocarbon Films via Hot-Filament Chemical Vapor Deposition
Hot Filament Chemical Vapor Deposition (HFCVD) offers the ability to tailor the chemistry of films with polymeric structure. In particular, HFCVD allows for more control over precursor fragmentation pathways than conventional plasma-enhanced CVD (PECVD). HFCVD uses thermal activation in the gas phase to generate reactive species, and allows independent control of the substrate temperature to be...
متن کاملINVESTIGATION OF THE GROWTH MECHANISMS OF a-CHX COATINGS DEPOSITED BY PULSED REACTIVE MAGNETRON SPUTTERING
The study of the growth mechanisms of amorphous hydrogenated carbon coatings (aCHx) deposited by reactive pulsed magnetron discharge in Ar+C2H2, Ar+H2 and Ar+C2H2+H2 low pressure atmospheres is presented in this work. Hydrogen-containing species of the reactant gas affect the microstructure and surface properties of the a-CHx thin films. The dynamic scaling theory has been used to relate the ma...
متن کاملPreparation of Nanocrystalline CdS Thin Films by a New Chemical Bath Deposition Route for Application in Solar Cells as Antireflection Coatings
Nanocrystalline cadmium sulfide thin films as antireflection materials for solar cells have been prepared by a new chemical solution deposition route in an aqueous medium at 50 °C. as-deposited thin films were studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and optical absorption spectra. X-ray diffraction data indicated the formation of hexagonal na...
